Week 9 Blessings, Reflection and Prayer

Blessings

Family Vacations even just to Price, UT.  Just that we all got to go somewhere away from home together!
Things that get Zac excited... Tractors, Motorhomes, Buses, Trucks, Firetrucks, Trains, Motorcycles!  There was a nice motorcross track in Price that we got to go watch the motorcycles jump.  Zac LOVED it and hasn't stopped talking about the motorcycles jumping since!
That Zac is putting sentences together.
Laughter.
Seeing Zac and Lucy play together at the hotel.  Crawling and laughing their heads off chasing each other around the hotel room.
Teaching Zac to wink.  And catching his first one on camera.  Then noticing what I must look like when I wink.  Imagine a teenage girl winking with her mouth wide open.  I laughed so hard when I looked at the picture of him with both eyes closed and his mouth wide open.  I better attach a photo so you can all see how funny it was.  And don't mind that he has chips in his mouth.  We were at dinner.  The entire restaurant was looking at me laughing so loud at our table.

Hummingbirds and Trains that we were able to watch from the patio at the golf course while we hung out waiting for Luke to finish his round.
Hearing Lucy saying new words all the time!  It shocks me how much she repeats us say.  Especially Zac.  She copies everything he does.  She especially loved the hummingbirds and was saying "Bird" every time she saw one!
Watching Zac run to his Daddy as soon as he saw him after his rough round the first day.
A husband that through God provides for us.
And a daddy that loves his kids and plays and teaches them even when he's tired after a long, hard day.

Reflection

1.  One important lesson I want to remember from this week's reading would be:  To hold my tongue.  Use my words wisely.
2.  What are your words like to those who receive them?  Are they sweet or bitter?  Are you building your family up with them or tearing them down?
This morning was rough.  It was straight discipline for Zac for nearly 2 hours of a huge fit.  I was really trying to be kind with my words to him and help him to calm down.  The amount of time wore me down and I was sending Luke messages to tell him what was going on.  Then he called and I broke down.  My words were not very sweet and I was airing my frustration to the point that he asked if he needed to come home from work to help.  It was not my finest moment in a stressful situation.  Luke is constantly building me up.  He's a great leader and I need to be better at not letting my emotions get the best of me.  I hope that my words with Zac were not hurtful.
3.  I am going to be more intentional by:
Thinking before I speak.  To slow down and be aware of what I am saying.  To be an encourager!

Prayer

For a great time at the church campout this weekend!  For the weather to be mostly clear.  And NO lightening!  Safety and Fun!  I can't wait to worship on the mountain!

From the blog HERE...

But God’s grace is new every morning, and this is good news because I need it every day. Every day I get to start again with the real hope of growing, learning, and becoming the woman God has created me to be. As a Christian you have this hope as well!

1. Think.

We need to learn to slow down and think before we open our mouths. We need to do better than react. We need to thoughtfully respond.
Gracious words are like a honeycomb,
sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Proverbs 16:24

2. Speak.

Every day we need to spend time talking to our Lord. He sympathizes with us and is always ready and willing to help. We tend to forget that we cannot grow more godly on our own. We need Christ and his power to work in us. We should pray that God makes us more sensitive to the words that come out of our mouths as well as the tone that we use. We need him to remind us daily that we are to do all things for his glory. Speaking with God prepares and empowers us to speak to others.

3. Dwell.

In addition to talking to God, we need to dwell on God’s word. We need to read it, think deeply about it, memorize it.
Ask yourself, “What is my heart filled with?” Or perhaps, “What was my heart filled with when I was reacting that way?” It doesn’t matter if people or circumstance make us mad or if we are tired and irritable. We can’t use such things to excuse what we say or how we say them.  What comes out of our mouths simply show us what is truly going on deep in our soul.
God’s word works like an antidote to the sin that lives within us. Our Divine Physician knows how to heal us.
