S- Proverbs 31:21 "When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet."
Proverbs 27:23 "Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds;"
O- Be prepared!
A- At the age my kids are at, growing out of clothes so quickly, I feel like I have a good idea of what they have and the condition that their clothes are in. And am so blessed by so many hand me downs for them! Thanks Mandy and Jamison for dressing my baby! I need to stay on top of what both Luke and I have and make sure that we have what we need for the major weather changes here in Utah. I like how in the ebook reading it suggested having less items that are better quality. That is something we could work on!
P- Lord, thank you for blessing us with family and friends who have clothed our kids! Thank you for the surprise gifts at just the right time. Please help me to stay on top of keeping our family warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Thank you that we have more than we need. Please help us to pass it on to others and bless them at just the right time. In Jesus' name I pray!
From the blog HERE... This was a very good blog. One of those things that we know we should do, and this gives a great explanation of why! What a great challenge!
Why should we show generosity to others?
1. Because we have received grace from God
We have been given more than we could begin to understand. Really, we deserve hell and nothing more because of our own sin, and yet because of Christ we have been given grace. We have the life, family, the forgiveness of sins, and a very bright future with the King who saved us. If you have a place to sleep tonight and food to eat, clothing to wear, and people who love you, then you are richly blessed beyond measure. All of this is grace. It is undeserved favor. It should produce in us thankfulness and a desire to be graciously generous to others.
2. Because Jesus was and is gracious
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9
All riches, power, and glory belonged to Jesus, but he laid it all aside, becoming poor, in order to make us rich. As followers of Christ we learn from the Savior and walk in his ways. This means showing kindness, undeserved kindness, to others.
3. We will be rewarded
“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly; and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully” 2 Corinthians 9:6
There is great reward to be found in being generous. It produces a kind of joy because we know we are doing what pleases God. It is a way of laying up treasures in heaven.
He who is generous will be blessed, For he gives some of his food to the poor. Proverbs 22:9
Now comes, what I think is, the hard part. We have not been called to choose one of these areas to be generous in. We are called to be generous in all areas. God does not say that we should pick whether we want to be generous with just our treasures, while holding on tightly to our time and talents. The call to be generous is a call to give big.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:16

This Week’s Challenge: Plan and prepare now for Fall. We all know the kids are going to need back to school clothes – watch the clearance racks for winter clothes on clearance and stock up now. Don’t forget it’s garage sale season – I love a good garage sale and have clothes in my closet and in the kid’s closets from garage sales too!! Be sure to share your children’s clothes that you are done with. My kids have hand me downs from their cousins – we love hand me downs! And all my clothes get binned up and passed on to two other Christian families who have kids just one size below mine. Share
and Happy Shopping!
