Week 8 Day 2, 3 and 4

Week 8 Day 2

S- Proverbs 31:24 "She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes."
Proverbs 10:4 "Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth."
O- She works hard with her hands and is profitable.
A- Work hard to benefit my family.
P- God, I pray that I would be a hard worker to benefit my family.  Thank you for the skills you have given me.  I pray that I will not take them for granted, but put them to use as you see fit.  If I am being lazy I ask that you would show me.  I want to be an example of a hard worker to Zac and Lucy, so that they will learn to be as well.  In your name I pray, Amen.

From the blog HERE...

God has provided us not only with the means to clothe our bodies each day, but even better, He has also clothed us spiritually! And our outward “clothing” is also an expression of who we are in Him.

You see, the dignity and strength that the Proverbs 31 woman wears doesn’t come from her own ability- it was given to her by her heavenly Father.

Just as her physical, daily clothing comes from Him, her spiritual clothing comes from Him as well. And her “clothing” is her salvation found in the Lord!

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.  Isaiah 61:10

Her salvation is what brings her strength, and knowing who she is in Christ makes her stand with dignity!

And He works all things for the good of those who believe in Him:

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

She can rejoice in her God, who loves her and holds her future! Isn’t that amazing?

Dear friends, if you are feeling weak- if you are feeling ashamed of where you are or where you’ve been, know that you can cry out to Him- He will bring you strength! He brings you freedom from shame, freedom from your sin, when you cry out to Him for help!

Week 8 Day 3

S- Proverbs 31:25 "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."
Proverbs 3:26 "for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared."
Psalm 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing."
O- Her strength is in God.  He is at her side always.  Her trust in Him allows her to laugh at the days to come, because her days are in His hands.
A- I can laugh at the days to come because God's plans for me are good!  I have faith in the Lord and don't need to worry about tomorrow.  He is at my side!  I lack nothing with Him!
P- Thank you Jesus for more promises!  Thank you for being my shepherd.  I know you will not leave me.  Thank you that my strength comes from you!  You are so mighty!  I am blessed by your promises.  I pray that you would bless my family and friends by coming into their lives and giving them strength in you!  Thank you that I don't need to look for strength anywhere else.  I love you, Jesus!

From the blog HERE...  She is explaining where she thought strength was found before she was shown strength in Jesus.
I thought strength was found in the number of crowns a girl earned or in the number of guys’ heads she turned.  “0″ for two.
I thought strength was found in positions and leadership that would build my resume.
I thought strength came from being smart and achieving success in the working world.

As women, it’s easy to let the world define our strength.

Years went by, I excitedly changed my last name, and babies came.  Four in a little over six years, to be exact.

And my worldly strength faded.

And on one deep-in-the-trenches kind of day, God, through His Word, gently spoke to me about a different kind of strength entirely.  A strength that won’t fade with time, or depend on human accomplishment or what others think of you (no matter if you’re eighteen, or thirty-eight, or seventy-eight).

It’s an inner God-given strength that comes from finding your identity in Christ.

John Piper says it this way: “In other words, women, young girls, dream of being so confident in God, and who you are in God as the daughter of the King of the universe, and what he has done for you and promises to do for you and be for you in Jesus Christ, that you fear nothing but God and laugh at the time to come – no matter what it holds.  [Physical beauty] – I promise you will lose it – and the man you get with it is not the kind of man you want.  Assertiveness, you will alienate the very kind of people you want to be around.  Halls of power, they are like grass: the wind passes over it and it is gone.  But the strength that God gives through the gospel abides forever.  The substance of this strength is faith in Jesus Christ.”

So which is it… faith in yourself, or faith in Jesus?

Week 8 Day 4

S- Psalm 37:3 "Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture."
Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;"
Philippians 4:19 "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."
O- Trust in the LORD!  God will meet my needs because I belong to Him!
A- TRUST!  Do not worry.  Do not lean on my own understanding.  Laugh at the days to come.
P- Dear God, I trust you.  I trust the plans you have for me.  I know they are good.  Thank you for meeting all of my needs.  Thank you for giving me more than I need.  Thank you for providing always and all in your perfect timing.  Thank you for knowing just what I need.  Thank you for knowing my heart and loving me unconditionally.  I am yours!
