Week 8 Monday
S- Luke 8:5-8 "“A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”"
O- Sow seeds on good soil.
A- I was recently talking to someone who said that it is important to sow seeds (share God's Word). God is the one who saves, but He uses us as tools to share His good news. It is important to be aware of who we are sharing with. We can share with anyone, but maybe there is someone who has "better soil". Maybe we want someone specific to just get it, but they are not ready. God knows and will prepare their hearts in His timing. There may be someone we know less, but is ready to hear the good news of Jesus. We need to be aware of opportunities around us to share with those who are on "good soil". Not letting go of opportunities for God to use us to sow seeds.
P- Dear God, I feel like my words maybe didn't make much sense up there... But, you know. I pray that you would make us aware of opportunities you have for us. That we would see the good soil. And we would be bold to sow seeds. I pray that you would always be on our lips, so that seeds would be planted whether someone is ready to accept you or not. Thank you that you are the One who saves. Use me to simply sow!
Week 8 Tuesday
S- Luke 8:15 "But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop."
O&A- Am I like the seed on good soil? I am thankful that I have been saved. That the devil didn't come and take away the word from my heart, so that I wouldn't believe (vs 12). I pray that I have deep roots, so that I don't fall away as I am tested (vs 13). Also, that I would not be choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures.
P- Dear God, Thank you so much for saving me. Thank you that you are bigger than the devil. Thank you that he has nothing on you. I pray that I would make my roots deeper and deeper in you, so that I do not fall away from you. Thank you for showing me that you are better than any of life's temporary pleasures. I pray that I would have a noble and good heart. That I would hear your word and retain it. And by persevering produce a crop to bring glory to you. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!
Week 8 Wednesday
S- Luke 8:21 "He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”"
O- Jesus is pointing out that his mother and brothers are not the priority. They know and live God's word. He knew that he needed to teach the unbelievers.
A- Although it is important to have fellowship with believers, we can't forget to love and teach those who do not know God.
P- Dear God, thank you so much for the Godly examples you have put into my life. Thank you that we encourage each other to put into practice your word. Please help us to not get caught up in our lives with each other, but to love on and share our relationship and testimonies with those who do not know you. Use us. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
Week 8 Thursday
S- Luke 8:39 "“Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him."
O- The man who Jesus cast the demon out of wanted to go with Jesus, but Jesus told him to return home and tell how much God has done for him.
A- Am I excitedly sharing all the great things God has done for me? The man went away and told ALL OVER TOWN how much Jesus had done for him.
P- Thank you God for all you do for me. For all you have done and continue to do for me. I pray that I would share my excitement all over town. I pray that my excitement would make others want what you have blessed me with, LIFE! Thank you!
Week 8 Friday
S- Luke 8:48, 50, 54 "48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”" "50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”" "54 But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!”"
O- Because of their faith they were healed. Jesus healed and raised this girl from death. Jesus is God.
A- When I am afraid, I need to replace my fear with faith. "Don't be afraid; just believe."
P- Thank you God that we do not need to be afraid. I pray that I will show my faith in you. I pray that my faith will continually grow. Thank you for saving me from death. Thank you for giving me hope and peace. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
