Week 3 Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday

Week 3 Wednesday

S- Luke 3:10-11 "“What should we do then?” the crowd asked.  John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”"

O- Give to those in need.

A- Where am I being greedy with what I have plenty of?  I can always give more.  Including giving my time and giving the good news of the Gospel.

P- Thank you God for giving me more than I need.  Please help me to see when I can give to others.  Thank you for the opportunity to share your truth this week!  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Week 3 Thursday

S- Luke 3:16-17 "John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”"

O- I had to pull out my Study Bible again... Fire is associated with judgment.  Chaff represents the unrepentant and wheat the righteous.  "Many Jews thought that only pagans would be judged and punished when the Messiah came, but John declared that judgment would come to all who did not repent - including Jews."

A- We will all be judged.

P- Dear God, thank you for being just.  Thank you that you do not have favorites.  Thank you for showing me my sins are serious and that I deserve Hell.  Thank you for forgiving all of my sins.  Thank you that Jesus paid my penalty.  Thank you for making a place for me in Heaven!  Thank you that salvation is for all of us if we repent and believe.  Please save this lost world!  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Week 3 Friday

S- Luke 3:22 "and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”"

O- The Holy Spirit came down on Him in bodily form.  My Study Bible said that John saw this as a sign.  "Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.”" John 1:32-34.  Jesus is God's Son.  God is pleased with Him.

A- God is pleased with Jesus.  Jesus is obedient to God.  How can I be more obedient to God?

P- Dear God, thank you for this sign you gave to John.  That he knew that Jesus was your Chosen One.  Thank you for showing us that you are pleased with Jesus.  Thank you that we know that Jesus was sinless.  That He led a perfect life.  And thank you that I know why.  That He did it for me, because I couldn't do it myself.  Please help me to honor you in all I do.  Help me to be obedient to you, and show me when I'm not.  Thank you!  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
