S- Luke 9:3-5 "He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”"
O- Jesus told the disciples to take nothing with them on their journey. They were to depend on the people that they were teaching.
A- I have a hard time leaving my house without my big bag full of stuff! Let alone leaving on a journey with NOTHING. Sure, it's mostly kid stuff, but still. I think I would have a hard time trusting that God would provide for me through strangers. I can imagine myself feeling anxious not having anything of my own. Just reading this made me uncomfortable for them. What little faith I have.
P- Dear God, thank you for convicting me today. Thank you for showing me how the disciples trusted you and went on their journey with nothing of their own. Please help me to trust you more! You have shown me and my little family how you always provide more than we need. Just as we start to lose faith and wonder how we will get what we need, you provide for us. Help me to remember this when I doubt. Thank you for forgiving me and providing when I don't deserve it. Help me to give like you. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
