Let's get to know each other a bit! You'll notice that I will often post things the night before. I do this so that those of you early birds will have each day's message first thing.
The first week I will ask a few getting to know you questions. Throughout the study, on Monday's I will ask a question to keep conversation flowing. Wednesday's we will share how God is blessing us. Friday's we will share prayer requests and praise. Please feel free to share anytime throughout the week as well.
Getting to Know You
1- Your Name, Spouse's Name, Kids Names and Ages
Nicki, Luke, Zac 2 1/2, Lucy 18 months
2- What is something not many people know about you?
I still plug my nose when I go under water.
3- What is your favorite Easter tradition?
I haven't really carried on any traditions from when I grew up. We used to go on vacation or camping with cousins, which I loved. Maybe one day we can start that again. I love going to Southern/Central Utah and playing outside in God's playground! We don't do the Easter Bunny like I did growing up. Luke's mom and Grandma love doing an egg hunt for the kids.
4- How can you make Easter more about Jesus with your family this year?
I got myself all discouraged realizing I hadn't made plans for Easter yet. I knew I didn't want to do the Easter Bunny thing, but I want to show Zac and Lucy why we celebrate Easter. It is kind of a big deal! So, I hopped on the Pinster (which one of the awesome ladies in my small group called Pinterest and it has stuck) and found these 2 awesome ideas that I am excited to do!
I pinned more ideas on my Pinterest page while I was looking. Some are for older kids, but I wanted to save the ideas for later! I am now excited to celebrate Easter this year. I'm relieved that it's not too late to do these either!
Yay for starting new Easter traditions! Thank you God for changing my heart from being discouraged about not having Easter traditions anymore, and showing me some great ideas for celebrating that Jesus is alive!
5- How has someone encouraged you recently?
Something God has been showing me lately is that it is really important to sow seeds of the Gospel. It is really a hard thing for me to do. Although, God has really made me more and more bold lately. I don't want to keep the good news of Jesus to myself! It is easy to get discouraged and wonder if what I'm doing is really doing anything. Our church is doing a series called "Simply Sow". They have been showing short videos of how people are planting seeds and how people are being led to Christ by these simple acts. It has really encouraged me to do more, even when I can't see the growth. Sometimes the soil is not fertile. I have realized that God's timing is perfect. I am here for Him to use me, but it is He who saves. I am just a tool in His garden!
Didn't I just say that I was just getting into a groove with leading these awesome groups? This time the study guide has some "Let's Get Intentional" questions. And I like them. I think I will add them to our weekly routine. They are the same every week, but great reminders to be intentional in our day to day routines.
This week I am going to show love to my family by:
Teaching Zac and Lucy that Jesus is alive! By doing these fun Easter activities I posted above!
This week I am going to do something special for:
My neighbors. We have some Easter cards to invite people to church. As we are walking our neighborhood, I plan to pass them out to neighbors who are outside playing. I'll pray that they are interested and hear the good news of Jesus this weekend!
I love that we can share with each other how we are showing love to our family and friends/neighbors/strangers to encourage each other. Sometimes by posting to my blog I feel like I am bragging or boasting about good things I am doing. I pray that I am not being boastful, rather encouraging others by posting ideas. I love hearing about what other women are doing and think it's great to pass it on with others. It makes me want to do more when I hear what others are doing to make someone feel good. Makes my heart happy!
