We're half way through the study! Way to go! I always get a little sad knowing that we're on the backstretch and it will be over. I am especially loving this study and group!
This week we are sticking with "love". Besides loving our own Valentine's this week, how can we show love to our neighbor?
I'm going to take this literally and show my neighbors some love this week. On Valentine's Day, I'm going to have the kids help me make Valentine's for a few of our neighbors. A note that says God loves them with a treat! I might even get brave and actually knock on the door and give them their treat and ask how we could pray for them. Pray that I have boldness!
I also wanted to share a quick story from last week's trip to the grocery store. There was a Mom and daughter in front of us buying Valentine's. Our cute checker girl was saying how cute they were and that she wished she would get a Valentine. With candy, she added. After they left, I told Zac to ask her what her favorite candy was. She told us and I told Luke to throw a Mounds in our pile. Zac told her Happy Valentine! She was totally flustered and embarrassed. It was so much fun. I need to remember how easy that is and how much it could make someone's day. She loved it and said Zac was the cutest Valentine ever! She also asked what we were doing the next day and I told her church and playing with Grandma's. Then I told Zac to tell her about the band at church. ;) Now she knows we are a little different and prayerfully it will bring up conversation if we get her line again!
We have been pulling our neighbor’s garbage cans up from the street. And plan on scooping poop when it warms up, so we can play in the open back yard. Showing God's love. Rather than making enemies complaining that it isn’t being done.
Our Valentine’s! The kids finger painted the papers.
We handed out all of our Valentine's! I made 6 bags and it took us awhile to find that many people home during the day! Zac loved it! He knocked on every door and wanted to do more when we ran out! Next time! It didn't feel right to ask them if we could pray. They were saying how cute the kids were and were very thankful for their treat! One lady had just went out to walk her dogs. We gave her a bag and after she walked away she read it, "God is love!" And turned around and said that was so nice of us to do! Yes! Thank you so much for your prayers!
