Week 4 Monday–Friday

Week 4 Monday

S- Luke 4:4, 8, 12 "4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’” 8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” 12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”"

O- Jesus was tempted for 40 days.  He did not fall into the devil's temptation.  He was wise and answered with Scripture.
Deuteronomy 8:3 "He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord."

Deuteronomy 6:13 "Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name."

Deuteronomy 6:16 "Do not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah."

A- I want to fill up my mind and heart with Scripture, so that I am prepared to answer with truth.  I am continually amazed that on different occasions I have been able to remember a verse that has to do with what is going on.  I never thought I'd be able to do that.  The more I learn the more full my memory gets with verses.  I need to be aware of what I am letting in.

P- Dear God, thank you that over time my mind is getting more full of your truth.  Thank you for teaching me.  I'm sorry for the times I don't fill up on you and let other junk in.  Please help me to keep my focus on what is good, you.  Thank you for Jesus' example of answering with Scripture.  Please help me to be like Jesus!  In His name I pray, Amen.

Week 4 Tuesday

S- Luke 4:18-19 "“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”"

O- Jesus is telling the people that this prophesy has been fulfilled, right in front of them.
A- How amazing that these people got to see this unfold right before them?  They were with Jesus.  They saw Him with their own eyes.  He brings good news!

P- Dear God, Thank you for fulfilling prophesy and showing us that you are real.  You are faithful.  You are good!  Thank you for sending Jesus to proclaim good news.  Your plan is perfect.

Week 4 Wednesday

S- Luke 4:24, 27 "“24 Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown." "27 And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”"

O- No prophet is accepted in his hometown.

A- I'm not quite sure I understand these verses very well.  I'm looking forward to reading yours and learning more!  What they did remind me of is how it's hard for me to share the Gospel or talk about Jesus to those I'm closest to (family and friends).  More for fear of hurting them or making our relationship awkward.  It's not as threatening for me to be more bold with someone I may never see again.

P- Dear God, thank you that even when I don't understand your verses (or maybe I'm thinking too much and not just getting it) that you teach me or point me to something in my life.  Thank you that I get to learn from these ladies.  Otherwise, I'd just skip over and not hear you through these words.  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Week 4 Thursday

S- Luke 4:33-35 "In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, “Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”  “Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly. “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him."

O- Jesus spoke and the demon came out of the man.  God has power of Satan.  Over ALL!  "He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him." Mark 1:27

A- God is all powerful.  What has possessed me that I am not trusting God to cast out?  I can let Satan tear me down with thoughts of not being good enough, or thinking I can't do something.  But God can!  I am good enough, because God lives in me.  "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

P- Praise you, God!  You are all powerful!  Satan is beneath you.  Thank you for strengthening me.  Thank you for casting out demons.  Thank you for crushing what possesses us and making us stronger.  Thank you for your miracles.  Thank you for giving us our own testimony through our experiences, so that we can share with others the power you have.  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Week 4 Friday

S- Luke 4:42-43 "At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”"

O- Jesus was sent to proclaim the good news, not just to one area, but to all.

A- Am I stuck wanting to just share the good news to my loved ones?  Am I sharing with as many as I can, wherever I am.

P- Dear God, please make me aware of opportune times and places to share your good news.  Not just with those that are near me.  I pray that conversations would be started about you and I would see the opportunity you have given me.  Thank you for changing my heart.  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
