S- Colossians 1:17-18 "He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy."
O- God is first. He is supreme. He is the head and we, as the church, are the body. He is above us. Christ was the first to be resurrected so that in everything He is supreme.
A- I love how one of the girls said "It astounds me as I learn more about God and how everything He does fits perfectly together on many levels." That stuck with me yesterday and through today's reading. I need to be always putting God first.
P- Dear God, Thank you that everything you do fits perfectly together. It makes sense! Thank you that your Word is perfect. Thank you that through it you speak to me and through prayer I can speak to you anytime! Thank you for listening and answering. Please help me to put you first, right where you belong. Help me to seek you and your will for my life. Fill me with you!
This is a post by one of the girls in the group. I love how she shared that she enjoys reading the different Bible versions as each of us post our SOAP journals. I completely agree! It’s so fun to see the differences and teaches us even more. Another a great reason to study as a group!
S: And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the first born from the dead, that in all things He may have preeminence."
O: God was/is first and all things exist because of Him. He is the leader, the first and the last, Alpha and Omega
A: I really enjoy reading all of your versions of these versess. My Bible is the New King James, and its not always the easiest to understsand. :) But the word that struck me today was preeminence to I googled its definition to just dig deeper.
"Superior to or notable above all others; outstanding." Can I get an Amen? :)
P: Lord, you were here first. Just as the pastor said Sunday, you just decided to create the Universe and it was no big deal to you. You are that strong,, great, amazing! You are an architect, an artist, an engineer, a construction guru and your words spoke it into being! Thank you Lord that it is all about you. AMEN
My response to her…
Funny, I googled the NIV word Supremacy: : the quality or state of being supreme; also : supreme authority or power. I especially like the definition to preeminence. Thanks for sharing!
I also love reading the different Bible versions that everyone shares. Each day I read the verses from my Bible to the kids at breakfast. They think it's cool to read Mom's Bible after reading their story. Then I use www.biblegateway.com and love that I can click on "Add Parallel" and read two versions side by side. I choose NIV and NIRV (the kid version! ha!). It's easy to understand the kid version and usually helps me to understand better. Helps it all make sense for me!
Thank you God for Bible translators and for google!
