Getting to Know You

Week 1 was Introduction Week.  Here are some of the week’s Getting to Know You Questions.  We also shared our testimonies, which gets a post of it’s own.

Good Morning Girls!

You'll soon learn that I send most things the evening before, because I want you to have your daily emails waiting in your emails as you check them first thing.  I know that many of you will be up and at 'em before me!

I am so excited to get back on schedule with my reading and studying!  I'm so thankful to have a group to hold me accountable!  Without you I would struggle and be so inconsistent with my reading.
For the first week we will be getting to know each other.  If you know anyone that would like to join our group, please send me their email and I will and I will add them to the group!

We will start with some "Getting to Know You" questions!

1- Your name, Spouse's name, Children's names and ages  Nicki, my awesome, helpful husband is Luke, Zac just turned 2 , and Lucy just turned 1.

2- Where do you live?  And how did you end up here?  Ooooh, and where is your dream home location and why?  We live in …, UT.  I grew up in a super small town in Central Utah.  My parents were divorced and my mom lived in the city.  She got me a nanny job which I was so excited about!  My boss set me up on a blind date with her nephew and 6 1/2 years of dating later we were married in Vegas!  He grew up near here.  We bought our first home here for our son's 1st birthday present.  haha  We love it here!  My "dream" home would be on a warm beach!  But, I'd have to bring all my family and church family with me to love it completely!  They are "home" to me!

3- What is your favorite hobby?  I love keeping up my blog with updates on our kids and family life!  I am so behind it gives me anxiety.  It's like my journal and I love to go back and look at it.  I am so far behind it is overwhelming and I hate the idea of skipping and catching up from now (which is what I have finally started doing).  I have been posting on this "school year" with the kids.  We have started preschool, which involves a daily activity and learning a letter a week.  I also will be posting what I personally share with this study.  I hope to eventually catch up on all of our family memories as well!  If you are interested in a totally behind blog this is where to go.

4- What is a habit/attitude that God has changed in you since becoming a Christian or just in your walk with Him in general?
I was so selfish in my relationship with Luke!  And all relationships really.  Everything was all about ME!  I can't say that I am totally selfless now.  That would be silly and a complete lie!  Luke was a professional golfer and was out of town a lot.  I used to be so selfish and think that his career was more important than his relationship with me.  We argued and fought about this often.  We/I was saved just after we were married.  Without the change God made in me, I am near certain our relationship would have been out of control and I probably would have given up.  I know I couldn't have made it without God!  Thankfully, our relationship has only gotten stronger with God!  We have our struggles for sure, but we give that to God and when we are weak, He is strong!  I have changed so much and put others before myself so much more now than I did before becoming a Christian.  I love learning just how much I need Jesus.  I am still a wretched sinner and He has saved me from death!

5- What do you hope to get/learn from this group?
I pray to learn more about my God by reading and studying a new book in my Bible!  I know that this group will hold me accountable to be consistent in my reading.  I know that each of you will teach me more than I would learn by studying all alone.  I will post the emails that I share with each of you on my blog.  I feel silly posting my posts alone, because I know that doing this as a group is so much more valuable than doing it alone.  I pray that by posting it to my blog that someone, somewhere will see how great God is!  And will grow closer to God by reading the words I share.  And I pray that each of you will grow closer to God and be more familiar with His word through this study!  I'm also super excited for the relationships that are soon to be formed with each of you in this group!  God is so good!

I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you!  Please remember that involvement in the group in key to the group being a success!  This is one of the most fun weeks getting to know each other.  It is also a busy week for your email inbox.  The first week is full of excitement.  The crazy inbox excitement will slow down the second week and we'll get into a groove with the study!  I'm so excited to study God's word in the book of Colossians with all of you!  I know He has so much to teach each of us!

Goals, Prayer, and Praise

We are one week in!  Thanks for being a part of this study with me!

Please share a few goals you have for yourself in this study.

My goals for this study are:
1- Do my daily reading and post my SOAP journals daily.
2- To not allow myself to fall behind or get lazy. Which is so easy to do! To make this my priority. God first!
3- To apply my reading to how I live my life! Pray constantly!

Let us know how we can pray for you!  And any praise you have this week!

Prayer:  Please pray that I would lead this group well.  That I will be an example by posting daily and encouraging everyone in the group.
Praise:  Thank you God for a great first week in this study of Colossians!  Thank you for this group of women, that you are helping us to know each other better through Introduction Week.  Thank you for the relationships you are building here!  Thank you in advance for teaching us and growing us closer to you!
