Week 3 Friday

S- Hebrews 12:1-2 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

O & A- Luke recently shared something that he had heard in a sermon by Timothy Keller about this very verse.  I had meant to share it this week, because it was about the joy Jesus had... "For the joy set before him he endured the cross,"  He explained how many people think that the joy Jesus had was that He was going to return to Heaven.  But really, Jesus didn't have to come.  He never needed to leave Heaven, but God knew that it was the only way.  Jesus' joy was that because of this sacrifice, you and I could be with Him in Heaven!  He did it for us!  And that brought Him joy!

To hear the sermon, go HERE.  The sermon is called "Born into Hope" released 11/5/12.

P- Dear God, I can't thank you enough for the sacrifice Jesus made for me!  Thank you for showing me the joy set before Him he endured the cross.  Thank you for making a way for me to be with you!  Thank you for loving me that much!
