Week 2 Monday
S- Luke 10:2-3 "He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves."
O & A- I pulled out my (I mean Luke's) Study Bible to read what it had to say. It didn't say much about these two verses, but I loved that Luke had underlined, "The harvest is plentiful." I also love how it says to ask God to lead them to the harvest. I need to trust that God will protect me when He sends me out like lambs among wolves. It won't be easy, but the work will be rewarded.
P- Dear God, thank you that we can pray to you and ask for your help to lead us into the harvest. Help me to be a worker in your field. Help me to not fear as you send me out like a lamb among wolves. Thank you that you never leave me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
Week 2 Tuesday
S- Luke 10-8-9, 16 "“8-9 When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’" "16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”"
O- When I read this I thought, bless and be blessed. They are blessed with food, and they are blessing the people with healing and sharing that the kingdom of God has come near to them.
A- This made me think of how much I dislike depending on others. It would be hard for me to go out and trust that people would offer to feed me, and how uncomfortable it would be for me. I need to remember that it is a blessing for others to serve me. As I am blessed to serve others. I love verse 16. I know that my words are not perfect, but God's are. I also love that it says, "Whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me." If we reject Jesus, we reject God. Jesus is Lord.
P- Thank you God for showing me continually, in different ways, the importance of sharing your Word. Thank you for verse 16. Thank you that it is not about me or whether people are listening to my words. You speak through me to just the right people. It is not me who saves. I am your servant. Thank you! Please help me to bless others, and also to allow others to serve me as a blessing to them. Help us all to serve each other with a glad heart to honor you. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!
Week 2 Wednesday
S- Luke 10:19-21 "I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do."
O- "Rejoice that your names are written in heaven." Salvation is the most important. Salvation is recorded in Heaven. The Lord has revealed these things to little children. My Study Bible says, "little children. The disciples or, more generally, the humble followers of Jesus." and refers to 1 Corinthians 1:26-29, "Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him."
A- I am so thankful that God led me to my Study Bible today! How great is it that salvation is given to the weak. We don't have to be great to have salvation. And so that we may not boast. I certainly was far from great when God saved me! And I still am! Although He teaches me daily to be more like Him, I will never be good enough. And He still uses me as His servant. Amazing!
P- Thank you God for my Study Bible. That I can refer to it for more in depth studying. And through it you teach me and lead me to verses that I need to hear at just the right time. You are so awesome! Thank you for saving me when I was weak. For using me just as I am. And loving me with imperfections. Thank you that my name is written in heaven!
Week 2 Thursday
S- Luke 10:27, 37 "27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself." "37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”"
O- Love God with everything! Have mercy on others.
A- Devote myself to God. Put God first. God loves me and gives me mercy, even when I don't deserve it. I should show love and mercy to others and not expect anything in return.
P- Dear God, thank you for showing me mercy. Thank you that I have seen your love and mercy personally. Help me to show that to others joyfully. Show me when I am not putting you first and lead me back to you. Show me ways to love my neighbor. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
Week 2 Friday
S- Luke 10:41-42 "“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”"
O- Mary did what was important. She "sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said." Martha was worried and upset about things that did not matter.
A- How often am I worried about what needs to be done and not focusing on what God is really trying to teach me? How easy is it to get distracted?!
P- Dear God, please help me to not get distracted from what really is important. Help me to listen to you! Please lead my day and show me how to fill myself, and my children, and those around me with you. Help me to do what needs to be done, without losing focus on what is important. You! Thank you!
